The UE error means unbalanced load detected during spin cycle.
The LG washer displays the UE error and halts the current cycle until the underlying problem is fixed.
Check these in order. The first cause accounts for the majority of UE errors.
Single heavy items, tangled sheets, or all laundry bunched to one side create an imbalance the machine can't self-correct during high-speed spin.
One heavy item (a comforter, rug, or large bath mat) can't be balanced no matter how the machine redistributes it. Adding similar-weight items helps.
An unlevel machine amplifies drum wobble during spin, causing UE on loads that would otherwise spin fine. Check with a level and adjust the feet.
LG top-loaders use suspension springs to dampen movement. Stretched or broken springs allow excessive drum oscillation even with balanced loads.
Follow these in order. Stop as soon as the error clears.
Press the Start/Pause button to stop the cycle, then unplug.
Open the lid or door and spread items evenly around the drum by hand. Untangle any twisted items. For a single bulky item, add 2–3 towels to help balance the load.
Place a bubble level on top of the machine front-to-back and side-to-side. Adjust the threaded leveling feet at each corner until the machine is level in both directions, then tighten the jam nuts.
Restart the cycle. A correctly loaded and leveled machine should spin quietly. If UE returns on a balanced load, proceed to check suspension springs.
Unplug and access the springs by removing the top or back panel (model-specific). Pull each spring — they should be taut, not loose or stretched. Replace all springs as a set.
