The OE error means drain error — washer couldn't drain within the expected time.
The LG front-load washer displays the OE error and halts the current cycle until the underlying problem is fixed.
Check these in order. The first cause accounts for the majority of OE errors.
LG front-loaders have a large-capacity drain pump filter at the bottom-front of the machine. It collects coins, lint, and debris. A clogged filter is the OE cause in the majority of cases.
The drain hose at the back of the machine can kink when the washer is pushed against the wall. Also check for blockages inside the hose — sock-type items can travel to the hose.
If the drain hose outlet is more than 8 inches above the floor, the washer may struggle to pump water up against that resistance. Check the hose routing.
If the filter is clear, the hose is unobstructed, and you don't hear the pump running during drain, the pump motor has likely failed.
Follow these in order. Stop as soon as the error clears.
Cut power before opening the pump filter.
On LG front-loaders, this is behind a small panel at the bottom-left or bottom-center front of the machine.
Before unscrewing the filter, pull out the small emergency drain hose (next to the filter), uncap it, and let water flow into a shallow pan or towels.
Turn the filter cap counterclockwise. Remove lint, coins, bobby pins, or anything else collected inside. Rinse the filter under running water.
Check for kinks and confirm the hose outlet is no more than 8 inches above floor level.
Reinstall filter, restore power, and run a spin-only cycle. If OE returns and you don't hear pump noise, replace the drain pump.
