The dE1 error means door latch error — washer doesn't detect the door as securely closed.
The LG front-load washer displays the dE1 error and halts the current cycle until the underlying problem is fixed.
Check these in order. The first cause accounts for the majority of dE1 errors.
LG front-loader doors need a deliberate push to fully engage the latch. A gentle close will sometimes look and feel shut while the latch isn't fully engaged.
A garment or foreign object caught in the rubber door boot gasket prevents the door from closing fully. Open the door and inspect the entire gasket perimeter.
The plastic latch hook wears down or cracks over time. If the hook no longer engages the strike plate solidly, dE1/dE2 will appear even with the door pressed closed.
Even with the latch physically engaging, a failed switch inside the latch assembly won't send the 'closed' signal to the control board.
Follow these in order. Stop as soon as the error clears.
Open the door and run your finger around the full rubber seal. Remove any trapped clothing.
Push the door until you feel and hear the latch click solidly. Retry start.
Cut power if the above doesn't help.
Look at the plastic latch tongue — visible cracks or rounding indicate it needs replacement.
Disconnect the door switch connector. Test for continuity when the latch is manually depressed — OL reading = failed switch.
LG front-loader door latches are typically held by two screws behind the door frame trim. Replacement takes about 20 minutes.
