The FE error means over-fill error — water level exceeded the safe limit in the drum.
The LG front-load washer displays the FE error and halts the current cycle until the underlying problem is fixed.
Check these in order. The first cause accounts for the majority of FE errors.
A mineral deposit or mechanical failure in the solenoid valve prevents it from fully closing when the board sends the stop signal. Water continues to trickle in.
The pressure switch monitors water level by air pressure in a connected tube. If it fails, it may incorrectly report 'empty' causing the machine to keep filling.
A cracked or disconnected air hose between the tub and pressure switch gives a false 'low level' reading, causing continuous filling.
In rare cases, a control board fault causes it to keep the inlet valve energized. Replace board only after ruling out valve and pressure switch.
Follow these in order. Stop as soon as the error clears.
If water is near overflow level, close the supply valves at the wall first, then unplug.
A full power reset can resolve a stuck valve state. After reconnecting, run a short cycle and monitor.
Access the inlet valve (rear of machine). Check if the valve diaphragm is coated with calcium/lime scale, preventing full closure.
Trace the small air hose from the tub to the pressure switch. Look for cracks, holes, or disconnected sections.
Disconnect the air hose from the switch and blow lightly into the port — you should hear a click. No click = replace the switch (~$15–30).
The inlet valve is the most common cause. Replace with an OEM-compatible valve (~$20–45). If FE persists, replace the pressure switch.
