The DC error means door or lid not properly latched — the control board can't confirm the door is sealed.
The Samsung washer displays the DC error and halts the current cycle until the underlying problem is fixed.
Check these in order. The first cause accounts for the majority of DC errors.
Small items (socks, straps) trapped in the door gasket prevent the door from seating fully, so the latch can't engage the striker.
The door requires a firm push to click the latch into place. A soft close or a slightly warped door can leave the latch partially engaged — confirmed open by the control board.
The plastic latch hook breaks with repeated use, especially if the door is regularly slammed. The latch may appear closed visually but the microswitch inside isn't activating.
The door lock actuator (the motorized component that bolts the door during a cycle) can fail electronically. If the latch is fine but DC persists, the lock module itself may need replacement.
Follow these in order. Stop as soon as the error clears.
Always cut power before inspecting the door components.
Run your finger around the entire rubber gasket seal. Remove any clothing, string, or debris caught in the fold. Check the door seal for tears that could prevent a tight seal.
Look at the door latch (on the door) and the striker plate (on the machine body). The plastic latch hook should be intact and able to click fully into the striker. If the hook is broken or bent, replace the door latch.
With power restored, close the door firmly and start a cycle. Listen for a click or buzz from the lock motor activating. No sound when starting usually indicates the lock module has failed.
Disconnect power, remove the door seal, and unplug the lock harness connector. Install the new lock assembly and reassemble in reverse. Test with a short cycle.
